ID RequirementsGovernment-issued photo ID required. Name on ID must match registration exactly. Secondary ID may be required at some testing centers. For online proctored testing, webcam and valid ID are required.
RenewalNot required -- NES exam scores are valid for 3 years from the test date. Teaching credential renewal is governed by each adopting state's DOE, not by NES directly. Contact the relevant state Department of Education for credential renewal requirements.
Retake Policy45-day waiting period between failed attempts. No limit on total number of attempts. Full exam fee is required for each attempt.
